Multiple pages of research has been accomplished over the last 5 years to support the new theater, with new maps, accurate weapons, and era correct weapons ssytems and capabilites. The theater will reflect a possible NATO/Warsaw Pact conflict based in the late 1980s, using an alternative history where the Soviet Union does not retreat from Europe and does not collapse. 10-29-2009 - Accurate SAM sites are being implemented to the FAF Korea map with accurate capabilites for the systems to resist both ECM and counter measures, while at the same time being as accurate as they are in real life and as effective. 10-27-2009 - New CBU bomb effects implemented in FAF Korea to mitigate the CBU explosion effect errors. Proximity In default FA the cluster bomb explosion effect would only work if the bomb hit the ground. If it hit the actual target it would not show the CBU effects, just destroy the target instead. 08-12-2009 - A break through has been made in isolating why no cockpits display at 1024 x 768 resolution in game. It turns out that the cockpits are simply the low resolution cockpits, but they are disabled at that resolution, as Electronic Arts took the cheap way around when they added the 1024 x 768 resolution to the sim, and instead of creating new cockpits to display at this resolution, they instead disabled all cockpits, to obviously same time and effort on the 1.02F patch. 07-30-2008 - Another major break through has been made!! This time in relation to FAF multiplayer. The multiple router multiplayer connection bug that Aguada fixed for standard FA has been modified to work for the new FAF exe as well! Now any FAF player can connect, whether on a router or not, to another FAF player (or players) whether they are on routers or not. Previously, the original FA bug of only a single player, on a router, could fly with other all non routered pilots, and had to host the mission, or FAF would lockup at the verification window. FAF could not support more then 1 router. Now, thanks to mods of Aguada's original work, this is no longer the case! Any number, up to 8 FAF players, can connect, either on or off routers and fly multiplayer! This fix has been verified by Beta Testing and will be released in a patch for all FAF users when FAF Korea 2008 is released...
08-17-2005 - Aguada's new FA EXE Editor has been released! This editor is used to apply the new router fix patch for all FA online players using a router. With this patch the multiple router multiplayer connection bug is now officially fixed and downloadable! See the news item below for a quick overview...

08-21-2009 - (From SimHQ):: Which version of Falcon 4 is the right one for you? Posted on the SimHQ forums is a great "read before flying information page to help the simmer make their choice... "This question is asked almost once a week at one of the F4 forums or PM'd to me, so in an effort to save time and flame wars, here's the basic differences between each F4 version. Keep in mind that everything below is subjective regardless of how unbiased I try to be. If you ask 5 different F4 pilots the "Which F4 version is better?" question, you'll get 5 different answers. The real answer to the question is whatever version you prefer coupled with whatever version runs best on your PC. And unfortunately the only way to figure that out is to try them all. If you're brand new to F4, I recommend you start with Allied Force (AF) and then try OF/FF/RV after you've learned the basics. I will do my best to keep this thread updated...." There are many reasons, but I won't bore this community with them now. It has always been our goal and mission to create and release upgrades to Falcon4.0 about once a year. This release will get us back on track. This version of FreeFalcon contains an absolutely stunning amount of new material, it also contains some flaws and does not work as well as some of our past releases... 07-24-2009 - (From Team Super Hornet) Subject: Valhalla Campaign
The Valhalla campaign was created by Jane's F-18 developer Matt Wagner, with the help of Jim "Hornit" Campisi, retired naval officer and F-18C pilot. It is was the first campaign ever released for Jane's F-18 that was not included on the CD. The focus is on realistic operations - long transit distances, required aerial refueling, and inventory management are necessary for a successful campaign. The missions in this download have been updated to include fixes that prevent a CTD when checking in with the FAQ.
A portion of the campaign synopsis follows:
Given the limited natural resources and manufacturing capabilities of the SRR, the ability to support a fledgling economy has been limited at best. In a gambit to secure the fisheries and oil deposits of northern Norway, the SRR has launched an invasion. With the Norwegian military caught unprepared, SRR forces have been able to strike deep into Norway and now occupy it as far west as Alta. Rather than over-extending their line of communications and resupply, SRR forces have taken up defensive positions west of Alta and have announced the annexation of the occupied territory.
Seeking to not be entangled in the events, Finland and Sweden have declared their neutrality in the conflict. Fearful that the SRR will continue its push west after consolidating its hold of occupied Norway, NATO forces have mobilized a small blocking force west of the SRR positions. However, it is NATO's intent to reinforce this blocking force into an offensive capable force that will retake Norway.

| 04-30-2009 - (From Team Super Hornet) Subject: TSH v4.02 TSH v4 is a compilation of many old and a few new TSH mods. It is a collection of the de facto fully TSH-modded state of Jane's at the time of release and serves as the new platform upon which future TSH releases will be based.
v4.01 fixes tower controller sounds and the North Cape single mission organization file, as well as adding a desert landpal file for the North Cape theater.
v4.02 repairs the carrier landing tire chirp sounds, restores the v4.00 engine sounds, and fixes the gray "slow" AOA indicator light... Click here to obtain the file and read further...
04-16-2009 - (From Team Super Hornet) Subject: RampStrikeBeGoneFix The TSH This utility was developed in response to the "ramp strike bug", a quirk that seems to plague certian campaign missions, most notably in the Valhalla Campaign. Occasionally the player aircraft will explode without warning or cause as it crosses the carrier fantail on approach for landing.Since the ramp strike bug could result in an unrealistic loss of airframes in a campign, this utility will allow you to restore those destroyed airframes and revive the pilots killed. It will also allow you to fly a campaign with a single pilot, even if that pilot is killed or captured. What the utility will not do is prevent campaign failure if a campaign is set up to count airframe losses in its scoring system... Click here to obtain the file and read further...

03-12-2009 - (From SimHQ) Subject: New Mission Set Released Shadow has generated another set of ten stand-alone missions for Jane's F/A-18. Perhaps the most prolific currently-active producer of new missions, Shadow builds in random elements that make the action unpredictable. You can fly them again and again with different situations each time. They were designed for online multi-player flights of 3-4 aircraft, but can be flown with AI aircraft if appropriately assigned. This set is titled 10 VFA-41 Missions. You can obtain this file at the following link. Click here to get this file... |
