SiteLog:

Here you can find detailed updates to the website in the listed year.

Date
Site Update
12-20-99
:
VNFAWING enters the Christmas season wishing all its pilots and site visitors a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! By the way, I do not believe the Y2K bug ever existed, and there is no worry that the new year will bring any problems to any sites or business world wide! CAG out until 2000!!!
11-03-99
:
I moved the guest book to a new provider, which offers more capabilites and a faster server for quicker access to previous posts. The old guest book entries were migratable andnone were lost during the transition. Thenew gustbook allows users to post links ot their sites and email addresses along with theif feedback and provides an editing and delete feature to remove improper content from spammers and disgruntal users.
10-23-99
:
The site has begun to stabilize at 250 webpages. I have also joined several additional aviaton webrings and joing the Fighters Anthology webring to continue to promote the site and the Airwing. The 714 FA ladder and the VNFAWING ladders are both still going well with many users. The site just crossed 92000 visitors since 7/28/99!
09-09-99
:
New video pages completed and 2 additional videos added to the site. A futher redesign of the navigation bar is necessary to allow users to quickly move about the site without having to click on each sepeate tripod sites navigation bar. A single flow chart is under development for the site and will be implemented in the future. Unique data today of 9/9/99!!
08-16-99
:
I added a small aircraft video section to the site for visitors to view some live combat and training footage. Though storage is limited, these videos are small in size and allow fast downoads for all users.
07-25-99
:
Tripod was down all day today due to attacks on their servers. Some data was lost but tech support promises to ahve all teh sties fully restored with the next 24 hours. VNFAWING has only lost the small amount of development work I did on the site earlier in the day and I have begun to create an independant backup to avoid future losses.
06-30-99
:
Added an online chat room to the commcenter to allow online pilots to engage in direct instant messaging to support each others activites. Added a battlecom server to the site for use by the squadrons for online coops and ladder competitions.
06-16-99
:
Added a recent news section for news on squadron and website activites in addition to the squadron calendars for use to inform members of new activities not yet scheduled and for visitors to inform them of activites they can share in with the VNFAWING members.
05-19-99
:
Updated the Roster to display only active VNFAIWNG Pilots and and created an inactive/reserves roster page for VNFAWING aviators that are on leave or have expressed a desire to go inactive for a specifc period of time. I have also created an archive roster for permently retired members that can no longer dedicate tehir free tiem to the Airwing. All these aviators are held in the highest esteem and both DCAG Tango and myself thanks each and everyone of them for the time they have given us and the shared experiences.
04-29-99
:
Updated the Air Combat Tactics and Training Section to the site. This section contains articles, interviews, and video for the enhanced training of air combat to VNFAWING aviators and visitors. 3 Dimensional diagrams and detailed information in modern air combat tactics will ensure the improvement in skills to all levels of sim combat pilots.
04-11-99
:
Added a guestbook link to the main page. The Guestbook always was a frequently used feature of the first VNFAWING site at Netscape Site Central, so that's why I have decided to enable one on the Tripod site. Joined the Naval History Webring and posted links to the main page.
03-25-99
:
Edited the main pages to remove the music files, as it has been found that visitors do not like automatic music files to play when visiting the site. I will add back the sound if warranted, though they will not default to playing, but will be user selectable to play if they decide they want to hear it.
03-14-99
:
VNFA_Tango and VNFA_Hotshot have posted announcements that the VNFA Korean War libraries are under development for implementation to the VNFAWING FA Fighting Hawks Squadron later inthe year. The LIbrary set will be composed of all aircraft, vehicles, ships, and weapons consistent with the Korean War era of 1950- 1953. New terrain has been proposed, but research into its availability will have to be undertaken before its can be implemented.
02-23-99
:
Added a squadron calendar page to each of the four VNFAWING squadrons to post future activites and meeting times. The training wing was in desperate need of this to allow instructors to post available times to trainees for carrier qualifications. The Carrier Landing Analysis was further tweaked with information popups to describe each section of the form to potentil users so that grading through the form would be carried out correctly.
01-28-99
:
Tripod had a server failure and part of the VNFAWING website was lost temporarily. However the site is fully restored to its previous capabilites and the only thing lost was time to our users, which I apologize for. If anyone has any additional problems please feel free to email though the roster page and let me know what I can do to help.
01-17-99
:
VNFAWING takes over full hosting for the 714 FA ladder as the last of the exo.com pages are migrated to the VNFAWING Tripod pages. Use of the ladder is now transparent from the main exo.com 714 VFTS site and users will not see any major changes, other then advertisements for pilots for the VNFAWING Airwing.
01-01-99
:
New Year resolution is to continue to grow VNFAWING Airwing and to build new alliances across the internet while continuously updating the VNFAWING site to reflect our constant growth and capabilites.
