Well its that time again...
Time to let everyone know what the right answer is! 
Now whats interesting in this poll is that there was a trick answer, and unfortunately alot of people fell for it!
The first US Navy jet to shoot itself down was a F11F Tiger that flew supersonic in a shallow dive and caught up to the its own 30mm cannon shells and flew into them which caused sever damage that downed the aircraft. However, there was no F11F Tiger in the Poll! There was, however, an F11F Tigercat in the poll, but...
You see, there never was a F11F Tigercat! It never existed!... 
There was an F11F Tiger, but the Tigercat was a twin prop night fighter flown during the Korean War. Its official designation was F7F Tigercat... 
So the real correct answer for this poll is the F-14 Tomcat! During Testing, an F-14A shot itself down with a sparrow missile, when the missile hung up during a firing test, pivoted on the front pin and flew into the aircraft itself, causing a crash!
So those that chose the F-14 Tomcat are the real winners here!
