Could be... Its seems to be logical it would be a fighter, but then again, maybe not... Or if it was a figher, which one?
The Buffalo was stationed alongside the Wildcat in the Phillipines, but the Wildcat was also stationed at Wake Island, both islands were pounded by the Japanese early in the war...
But then again, what Naval aircraft were stationed at Pearl Harbor and did they get into the air during the attack?
And if so, did they actually shoot down any Japanese aircraft?
Or did the kill take place some where else, in one of the other aircraft?
So many options and possibilities...
I really like this poll, its one of the my best!

I dont have a freakin clue so I'm gonna guess a Catalina at Pearl ( maybee one of the "Black Kats"? ) maybee got a lucky shot on one of the fleeing attack planes with a bubble gun. I thought some Warhawks got up and got some hits in, but then again they wern't Navy were they lol _________________ FAF/FA-2 FM Wizard

It could be the Catalina...
Though they were very vulnerable to air attack...
But is the Catalina a bizarre enough choice for a tricky poll?

Gee ya think? Roughly the same air to air capabilities as my old 1977 Mercury Marquise 16ft of luxo boat/highway barge _________________ FAF/FA-2 FM Wizard

I would think the Merc would be more effective!

By the way, both P-40s and 2 of the ancient P-36s made it into the air and achieved kills for the US Army Air Corp at Pearl Harbor...
But did any Naval Aircraft get into the air and achieve a kill?
Or was the first kill achieved elsewhere, by one of the other aircraft in the poll...

CAG
I vote for the Wildcat at Wake Island. The Marines had a chance to get into the air .

Yes they sure did...
But the US Marine Corp aviation is not US Navy aviation!

Looks like this poll is running slower then the previous one CAG. I sure wish I understood why people dont come here to vote with any consistency! _________________ Asst Forum Admin

I vote as often as I can. The polls are hard, but interesting.
I have a feeling I didn't post the right answer this time.
CAG, I will not remind you to post the answer to this poll.

But Pappy you MUST!
I rely on you for that!
Just make sure enough time has gone by (and votes have been posted!) before you do so!
Merry Christmas!
