man that's a toughie. I voted A-4 cause we had a crapload of them and they were available for strikes from day 1 of the war. A-6 spent too much time under the wrench. I dont think F-4s were doing strike missions at the begining but were really carrying the water at the end for BOTH the AF and Navy. The Thud I have no idea how much action they saw.

Here is the answer...
1) The A-4 flew more strike missions into the North then any other NAVAL aircraft...
2) The F-105 flew more strike missions into the North then any other AIRFORCE Aircraft...
However niether of these aircraft flew the most strike missions into the North when you combine all services...
That honor goes to the F-4 Phantom II, which flew more srtike missions into North Vietnam then any other aircraft, because it flew strike missions for the Airforce, Navy, and Marine Corp, and when you combine all sorties it flew the most strike missions, from Wild Weasel, to Strategic Heavy Strike, to Iron Hand Flak Supperssion missions, to simply armed recon (recon/strike) and SEADEscort missions, the F-4 Phantom is the only aircraft to have flown more of these sorties into the North then any other aircraft over the course of the entire war...
