What year was the last Convair B-36 Bomber retired from SAC combat service?
1947 when replaced by the B-47?
1952 when replaced by the B-52?
1958 when replaced by the B-58?
1959 when replaced by the ICBM?
Whats your choice?
Remember the B-36 was a '6 turning and 4 burning' hybrid giant bomber that was designed during World War II...

Yeah but we're talking the biggest bomber in history and man would I love to see it unleash its cargo on Moscow, though I doubt with SAMs it would have ever gotten that far. |

That reminds me of a teacher I had...
We would take the tests on a "scantron" mechanical scoring sheet. He would say, "Im going to give you the answers to the test... Some of them are A, Some of them are B, some are C, and some are D. Good Luck and No cheating!"

AS no futher votes seem to be forthcoming...
The correct answer is.....
1959! Cent and Gunsmoke both had it right from the start!!
History...
The last serving B-36 left USAF service and was retired and given to the City Of Forth Worth in Texas in 1959. The bomber still exists today and is in storage awaiting a new display museum large enough to hosue its huge size...
The bomber has been fully restored to flying condition and is currently disassembled...
You can read about it here...
