Vote for the war you believe achieved the first air launched antiship missile in combat, then post the reasons for your choice!!
For those that require a specific defination...
The modern defination of a missile is guided either internally, or by external means, while flown under power to a target...
Rockets are unguided, and thus not considerred missiles...
This also means it doesnt include glide bombs, controlled by radio, GPS, or otherwise.
And for the limited defination of this poll...
The weapon has to fly a trajectory, and gain lift from its body, but not from large wings... _________________ CAG Hotshot

CAG
I vote for WWII. I have seen combat footage of Navy planes attacking Jap ships with 5" aerial rockets.
I am waiting for you to tell me those are not anti ship missiles.

Errrrrrr...
A rocket is not a missile, much less an anti-ship missle...

Has to be guided by common definition of a "missle" ( technically a "missle" is any object thrown at an enemy, guided or otherwise ). This is an easy one so I wont vote for a while. _________________ FAF/FA-2 FM Wizard

If its what Kap has to say, then I know the answer for sure.
If not, its time to put on my thinking cap. _________________

If anyone wishes to change their vote, after this disclosure of the definition of the term 'missile' for this poll, please email me your alternative choice, and I will take care of it...

I choose Vietnam!
If thats not the right answer, I second guess myself by selecting Korea. _________________

I cant tell you if its right now not! Sheesh!
I can only change your vote, if after reading the definition, in relation to the poll, you have decided to change your selection.
So which do you want to stay with? Vietnam or Korea, and IIRC I asked anyone who had such an issue to EMAIL ME ABOUT IT...

There was a German missile that could be controlled from on board a HE111, not sure what it was called exactly, but I think it was wire-guided or else might have been radio controlled.

You must mean the Henschel Hs 293 ...
It did sink several allied ships, but as you can see, it does not qualify within the definition of this poll...
"The Hs 293 project was started in 1940, based on the "Gustav Schwartz Propellerwerke" pure glide bomb that was designed in 1939."
It was essentially a powered glide bomb for extended range, and used large wings for lift...
Link to very hi-res version of imagery above...

CAG
With your help I changed my vote. Thank you. I changed my vote to the 6 Day War. I think an Isreali tin can was hit by an Arab missile.
