It is 1 degree here this morning with 10+ inches of snow and 3 foot drifts!
It feels like we are in FAF Korea! Laughing

Regards,
Pappy

Yea I (unfortunately) know what you mean. My pipes froze lastnight when it went down to 8 degrees F...

I am not to optimistic of what is going to happen when they thaw out. Hopefully the damage will be limited to just the outside spicket...

Good Luck with your pipes. We drip water and open the cupboard doors under the kitchen sink at night. This is a pretty hard winter with the snow, low temps and wind chills.

That stupid rat saw it's shadow,so we have six more weeks of winter. Oh Joy!!

Regards,
Pappy

I did the same but these houses are not constructed for this type of weather. The average here this time of year is the high 50s to low 60s, not 8 degrees!

The house is simply not insulated enough for it and the pipes are not buried deep enough either...

Thus I could not stop the damage from occurring despite taking the proper precautions...

BTW we are off topic with these posts so I am spliting them to a new string in the O-Club...

In the future lets keep the weather reports out of the FAF development posts! Razz

Yes it split the pipe at the joint.

I had to turn off the water today when it thawed out and repair the joint...

Luckily it was an easy fix. Just had to use the propane torch and sweat the joint back together.

Yeah its amazing simple to make basic pipe repairs, emergency plumbers make a KILLING off of people who don't know how or aren't willing.

Well the temps went back down and I still have plumbing issues poppng up...

This time I had to cut into the wall and replace the elbow that fed the batroom sink. Its on an exterior wall and it had a leak as well...

Took the opportunity to also change out the faucett... Damn thing was a cheap POS.

Cant wait for Sunday/Monday with the temps going back into the 60s/70s (suppossedly)...
