Which of these aircraft was the Fastest Jet Fighter of World War II?

Your choices are...

1. Henschel Hs 132

2. Horten Ho 229

3. Lockheed P-80

4. Messerschmitt Me 163

5. Messerschmitt Me 262

6. Blohm&Voss BV P.211

Make your choice and then post your opinion on why you think it was the most produced Soviet Fighter!!

Also make sure you scroll up and submit your vote in the poll at the top of the page, as some of you forget to actually place your vote! Very Happy

I voted for the Me262. This seems too easy. Smile The F80 did not see any combat in WWII with just a few sent to England near the close of the war. The other planes listed I have no idea of their speed or if they were ever built or flew.

Good question. Smile

I picked the HS 132 because it was to be a last chance fighter.

Are all the planes on the list considered to be "of World War II"? If not then what are the criteria to be WWII compliant lol

Gotta be the Komet, mostly cause I'm not familiar with the other Nazi jets.

The Komet was fast for sure, but the same I think that the Horten was even faster, perhaps only for a little... so I voted for it.

You also forgot Russia MiG-9, and US's first jet known as comet, forgot what exact name it was where it was developed before P-80.

The only US jet to be built for combat in WWII was the P-80.

Also the British Comet was the slowest jet to see service, thus I didnt list it...

Russian MiG-9 was designed after the war ended, from captured German data using captured German turbo jets...

Quote:
The MiG-9 was developed from the I-300 (also called the izdeliye F {model F or product F} by OKB) prototype which first flew on April 24 1946 by test pilot Alexei N. Grinchik. The I-300 became Russia's first pure jet fighter only by one hour, beating the Yakovlev Yak-15 by mere minutes.

And to let you know, the way the polls display on the main page, that I am limited to 6 total selections...

Yes Kap you are correct it never flew...

Only made it the final assembly production phase when it was captured by Patton's Third Army.

However...

I never did actually say which of these was the fastest jet fighter that flew... Razz
